Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

OUA CENTRAL-LEADING BADGERS HAND LIONS SECOND STRAIGHT LOSS

The Brock Badgers rode a hot start and never looked back.

A first-quarter lead was carried for the remainder of the game, as the Badgers took a wire-to-wire victory over the York University Lions men's basketball team 71-51 Saturday night at Bob Davis Gymnasium.

The Lions now drop 3-11 on the season, while the fourth consecutive win for the Badgers puts them up 11-3 at the top of the Central division.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Badgers got off to a strong start, as they outshot the Lions 22-9 in the first 10 minutes of action, with Somto Dimanochie and Alexis Kayonga being the only two scorers for the Lions, combining for the teams nine points. The Lions struggled with their rebounding game, pulling down four boards to the Badgers' 13.
  • The second quarter was largely a defensive contest, with both teams holding each other to a 12-point quarter and the Badgers maintaining their 13-point advantage at the half.
  • The Badgers responded with an early 10-0 onslaught gaining a 44-21 edge with 6:37 remaining on the clock. Following that, the Badgers sustained their offensive surge, outshooting the Lions 16-10 to cap the third quarter with a 50-31 cushion.
  • The Lions were unable to match the Badgers intensity, as the squad did not let up in the fourth and rallied to the finish to clinch their fourth straight victory.
