LIONS GO DOWN TO GOLDEN HAWKS

The York University Lions women's rugby team squared off against the Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Lions struggled to gain a foothold in the match, and fell 51-0 to the Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Laurier demonstrated their prowess right from the outset, relentlessly pressuring the Lions throughout the match. Laurier scored three tries in the first half, converting all three, and led 21-0.
  • The second half unfolded in similar fashion, with the Golden Hawks continuing to establish the tempo of the match. They tallied another six tries, and led 51-0.
  • Despite a strong effort, the shorthanded Lions were unable to breach the touch line, and were shutout 51-0.

LOOKING AHEAD:

The Lions will seek redemption and aim for their first win of the season as they return to their home turf to welcome the Brock Badgers on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Alumni Field. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 pm.
