The York University Lions football team squared off against the Queen's Gaels on Saturday afternoon at the York Lions Stadium. In a game that, on paper, could have had the potential to fall either way, the Gaels dominated offensively. An early touchdown by Queen's in the first quarter guided the rest of the game, locking the Lions defense on the field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Gaels established their presence quickly scoring a touchdown and eventually a 35-yard field goal to take the first quarter.
- Although the Lions had offensive glimpses in the first-half, Queen's defense was locked down and kept the Lions out of sight from the end zone.
- The Lions tried to fight back in the second-half, however the Gaels would go on to defeat York 87-0.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Lions will host their final home game of the season on Friday, Oct. 6, welcoming their arch rivals, the Toronto Varsity Blues. Game time is set for 7 pm.
