U SPORTS, the governing body for university sport in Canada, announced Tuesday the rosters for the 2024 East-West Bowl, and three members of the York University Lions football team were among those chosen to represent Team East.

The East-West Bowl is an annual competition pitting the top 100 U SPORTS football players in their third or fourth year of eligibility. At least three players from each of the 27 U SPORTS football programs will participate. This year's York contingent consists of defensive lineman Brandon Davies-Lyons, offensive lineman Xavier Correia and receiver Avontae McKoy.

Davies-Lyons, a third-year commerce major from Oshawa, Ont., started all eight games on the Lions defensive line last season. He registered six solo tackles and 7.5 total tackles, and had a fumble recovery in the season opener vs. Western.

Correia, a third-year political science major from Toronto, Ont, started all eight games on the offensive line in 2023. He was one of just four York offensive lineman in their third year of eligibility or later.

McKoy, a third-year geography & urban studies major from Etobicoke, Ont., started all eight games last year, getting reps as both a receiver and out of the backfield. He was second on the Lions in receptions with 17,

The 2024 East-West Bowl will take place on Saturday, May 11 at Warrior Field in Waterloo, home of the Waterloo Warriors. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
