LIONS LET LEAD SLIP AWAY IN LOSS TO MARAUDERS

The York University Lions women's rugby team travelled to Hamilton to face the McMaster Marauders at Ron Joyce Stadium on Saturday night. York was looking for its second consecutive win, coming off a 43-19 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks, and sought to win their first road match of the season.

The Lions marched to a 7-0 lead in the first half, limiting scoring chances for the home team. The first half was a demonstration of tough defence from York, keeping the Marauders off the board on the wet pitch.

While the Marauders started the second half scoring with a try to make it a 7-5 match, the Lions responded with a try and conversion to make the match 14-5 in their favour. However, the Marauders spotted York's lead and staged a furious comeback to win the match by a score of 22-14.

LOOKING AHEAD:

The Lions close their regular season against their in-city rivals, hosting the Toronto Varsity Blues at Alumni Field. The match takes place on Saturday, October 5 at 5:00 pm.
