This Saturday, the York Lions Field Hockey team traveled to Kingston to face the Queen's Gaels. The Lions came into this game after dominating the McGill Martlets in a doubleheader last weekend. The Gaels on the other hand came into the game looking for their first win of the season.
After a scoreless first period of play,
Katie Tye opened the scoring three minutes into the second period, four minutes later
Elyse Ives scored her first goal of the season to extend the Lions' lead to two, she was assisted by
Keira Ho. Tye scored the Lions third goal of the afternoon and the sixth of the OUA regular season so far. Tye is now joint OUA top scorer alongside fellow Lion
Kathryn Carlow.
With the win the Lions improve their record to 5-1-1 as they look to clinch home field advantage in the playoffs. The Lions return to Alumni Field to play Queen's in the return fixture tomorrow. Admission to support the Lions at Alumni Field is free of charge.
