The York Lions men's volleyball team traveled to face off against the Waterloo Warriors. The Lions came into this game after sweeping a doubleheader against local rivals TMU.
The Warriors controlled much of the opening set, taking it 25–16. Outside hitter Alex Dorling continued his strong form from the TMU series, pacing the Lions' attack early with multiple kills in the first.
York responded well in the second set, tightening up their serve-receive and outlasting the Warriors in a tight 25–22 finish to even the match at 1–1. Colby Soolsma delivered timely points, while Alex Ko stayed consistent on the right side.
The Lions rode that momentum into a crucial third set, pulling ahead late to claim a 2–1 match lead. Soolsma was again a key factor in the offense, leading the team in total points during the frame.
Waterloo answered back, digging deep in the fourth set to force a decisive fifth.
In the final set Dennis Cota had crucial serving consistency, guiding York to a dominant 15–8 finish and a 3–2 comeback victory on the road.
