LIONS FALL TO BADGERS DURING MORNING MATCH

This morning, the York University's women's basketball team faced off against the Brock Badgers at the Tait McKenzie Centre. It was the Lions' opportunity to change the history between the two teams and break the consistent losing streak that has followed them since 2022.

Coming out of the gate, the competitiveness was clear, with multiple shots taken within the first thirty seconds. The Lions got on the board first with a layup by Gabby Di Pietro, but a jump shot by the Badgers tied the game at 2–2. That early push seemed to give the Lions the momentum they needed to hold the advantage for most of the quarter. They ended the first quarter ahead, 18–12.

The second quarter offered the Lions an opportunity to extent their lead further. A jump shot by Akuach Buang began a slow climb, and a powerful jumper by Ella Okubasu showed the Lions were not letting up. However, the Badgers responded with a 14-point run while the Lions failed to score, widening the gap significantly. The quarter ended with Brock leading 40–28.

The third quarter began with renewed enthusiasm, as Gabby Di Pietro and Kiara Leveridge hit back-to-back shots, bringing the score to 41–33. However, the gap between the teams continued to widen, and the quarter closed with the Badgers ahead 66–44.

Entering the fourth quarter, the Badgers continued to hold the advantage. In the end, the Badgers went home with the win, taking the game 74–60.
