This Saturday evening at the Tait McKenzie Centre, the York University men's volleyball team went head-to-head with the Trent Excalibur, aiming to defend their home court.
The Lions opened the first set by getting on the scoreboard first with a kill from Dennis Cota, giving York the early momentum needed to establish control. Two consecutive kills for Trent gave the visiting Excalibur a 6–5 lead. However, a quick response from Cota allowed York to regain momentum and maintain possession for the remainder of the set and take a 25–19 set win.
York set the tone early in the second set with a powerful kill by Alex Ko to earn the first point. Despite Trent's efforts, they struggled to build momentum as the Lions dominated both offensively and defensively. A final kill by Ko sealed the set in convincing fashion, ending with a commanding score of 25–9.
The third set opened with an ace, putting Trent on the board first. The Lions quickly responded, as consecutive kills by Dennis Cota and Chris Hoffman pushed York ahead 6–3. This momentum allowed the Lions to remain in control. Trent briefly regained the lead following York errors and consecutive kills. However, a key block by Cota and another Trent error shifted momentum back in York's favor, allowing the Lions to close out the set 25–20.
York secured the victory in straight sets, earning a dominant 3–0 win over the Excalibur.
