LIONS SHUT DOWN BY RAVENS’ CONSISTENT PRESSURE

On Friday evening at the Tait McKenzie Centre, the York University men's basketball team faced off against the Carleton Ravens.

Carleton opened the scoring with a layup right of the opening possession, but York quickly responded as Jeremiah Kwarteng answered at the other end. The intensity was high early, though momentum remained with the Ravens. The first quarter ended with the Ravens ahead 16–11.

The second quarter opened with a three-pointer, pushing Carleton's lead to eight at 19–11. The Ravens controlled the pace throughout the quarter. Christopher Williams hit a three for York to cut the deficit to 19–14, but Carleton's strong defensive presence limited the Lions' scoring. The opening half finished with the Ravens leading 37–29 at the break.

Into the third quarter intensity remained high. Kwarteng opened the third quarter with a layup for York, making it 39–31. Despite a well-executed three-point jumper by Malakai Ayres-Olson in the final seconds of the quarter, Carleton entered the fourth up 63–43 and maintaining high momentum.

The Ravens came out buzzing in the fourth quarter. Carleton maintained control for the remainder of the game, holding York firmly on the defensive end. The Lions' final points came from a free throw by Williams, as the Ravens closed out the game with an 82–59 victory.
