The York University men's hockey team went head-to-head with the Windsor Lancers on Saturday night at Canlan Ice Sports in the annual Colt's Crusade game in support of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Centre. The Lions were looking to make it two in a row on home ice after defeating the Lakehead Thunderwolves 2-0 behind a pair of goals from Harry Clark.
Both teams came out strong in the first period, with solid defensive play on each side preventing any offensive breakthroughs. As the intensity increased and time wound down, neither team was able to capitalize, and the period ended scoreless.
Windsor who struck first with a pair of goals on a 5-on-3, with Dylan Schives netting both in a span of 17 seconds, with Logan Linklater drawing both primary assists, giving the Lancers a quick 2–0 lead on his ninth and tenth of the year. Shortly after, Matt McNamara added Windsor's third goal of the period with his fourth on the campaign. In the final minute, Owen Jones buried his fourth to extend the Lancers' lead to 4–0 after 40.
In the final period, Jacob Boucher added Windsor's fifth goal of the game with his first of the year. Despite a strong effort from the Lions, it was not enough, as the Lancers secured a 5–0 victory.
