The York University Lions travelled to Oshawa to face the Ontario Ridgebacks on Saturday night, a day after their scheduled game at Nipissing was postponed due to inclement weather. The Lions were looking for their first win of the new year, while the Ridgebacks came into this game having won four out of their last five.
The Ridgebacks came out blazing, opening the scoring just 22 seconds into the game through Emily Harrison, who netted her seventh of the year. The Lions responded at the 3:45 mark, capitalizing on sustained pressure in the offensive zone. After striking the post twice in quick succession, the third attempt proved decisive as Kaitlin Teixeira found the open net to level the score with her fourth of the season to tie the game at 1-1. However, just 16 seconds later, the Ridgebacks reclaimed the lead through a Harrie Jones goal, her fifth, which made it 2-1. The Ridgebacks extended their lead to two with 7:34 left in the first Milana Perri's fifth of the year to make it 3-1 Ontario Tech after 20.
Jones got her second goal of the game with just over two minutes left in the second period extending the Ridgebacks lead to 4-1 after 40. Despite the Lions piling on 32 shots to Ontario Tech's 25, Zoe McGee made 31 saves on those 32 shots, as the Ridgebacks took this one 4-1.
