York University Lions football player Brody Clark has been selected to attend the 2026 CFL Combine in Edmonton, Alta., from March 27-29, the league announced Thursday, as Canada's next generation of CFL hopefuls will have an opportunity to showcase their skills to teams across the league.
Clark, a star linebacker from Delta, B.C., heads to the national stage following a resilient 2025 campaign with the Lions. Although his senior season was limited to just two games due to a fractured fibula sustained during a Week 1 victory over McMaster, Clark returned in just eight weeks, and proved his impact immediately upon his return in the season's final game against Guelph, where he tallied 4.5 tackles to close out his collegiate career. In the season opener against the Marauders, he recorded eight total tackles (seven solo), a tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, picking up right where he left off from 2024.
Clark's first season at York remains one of the most dominant defensive campaigns in program history, earning him OUA second team all-star honors. He led the entire country in tackles per game with a mark of 8.7, and finished the year ranked second in the nation in both total tackles (61) and solo tackles (49), while leading the OUA in both categories, and were the most amassed by a Lion since 2010. He also recorded two sacks in the season finale against McMaster and forced a fumble in Week 4 against the Windsor Lancers.
A proven big-game player, Clark was a primary catalyst in York's historic 19-17 Red & Blue Bowl victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues, the program's first win in five years. During that matchup, he earned Canadian Football Perspective (CFP) OUA Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording a season-high 12.5 tackles and a game-sealing interception. His consistent excellence led to him being named York's male athlete of the week for two consecutive weeks in September 2024.
Clark is the first Lion to be invited directly to the national combine since the single invitational combine was introduced in 2023. York alums Jason Janvier-Messier (2024) and Gabriel Appiah-Kubi (2023) advanced to the national event after participating in the invitational combine. The last Lion to bypass the invitational (formerly regional) combine was Luther Hakunavanhu in 2021. The star Lions receiver parlayed his selection into being drafted 44th overall by the Calgary Stampeders in that year's CFL Draft, and now plays for the Ottawa REDBLACKS.
