The York University Lions men's hockey team suffered a 7-1 defeat against the Brock Badgers on Sunday, Oct. 18, at Canlan Ice Sports. Despite getting on the scoreboard in the third period, the Lions were unable to overcome Brock's early offensive surge as the visitors secured their third consecutive victory of the season.
Brock established control in the opening period, scoring three unanswered goals. The Badgers continued to build their lead in the second period. Brock carried a commanding 5-0 lead heading into the final period.
York found the back of the net in the third period when Keeton Oakley scored, with Ethan Strik and Bryan McAndrews earning assists. However, Brock continued to apply pressure. Stringer scored his second goal of the game on the power play, assisted by Blanchard, before Forlin added another power-play goal with help from Stringer and York to complete the 7-1 final score. Lions' goaltender Dawson Smith made 42 saves over the course of the game.
Following the loss to Brock, York will look to rebound at home against the Waterloo Warriors on Friday, Oct. 23, before welcoming the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, Oct. 24. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. at Canlan Ice Sports.
