Box Score The York University Lions women's field hockey team were home at Alumni Field to take on the Western Mustangs.
It was a competitive first quarter with York and Western both playing aggressively. The quarter was scoreless up until the end when York's Katie Tye scored off a penalty stroke to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. The second quarter started and the Mustangs came off fierce and forced an own goal in the first 3 minutes to tie the game up 1-1. The second quarter stayed strong, and it was a 1-1 tie going into halftime.
The third quarter started and was calm for the first few minutes, until York's Juliet Redelaar scored right after a failed penalty corner by Western on the other side to give York a one goal lead once again.. The third quarter ended and the fourth quarter remained scoreless but was still one with lots of intensity as both sides battled it out until the very last second came off the clock. The Lions would end up victorious, going on to beat the Mustangs by a score of 2-1 and improve to 5-1-1 on the season. The win also extended York's unbeaten streak to six games.
