The York University men's basketball team hosted the Windsor Lancers on Saturday night at the Tait McKenzie Centre, looking to bounce back after a recent loss to the Western Mustangs.
The first quarter was a hard-fought contest, with both teams trading baskets in a battle for the lead. Although Windsor held a slim two-point edge heading into the second, the Lions' defense stepped up to force five turnovers. However, York struggled to capitalize on those extra possessions, and the game went into halftime deadlocked at 25-25.
The momentum shifted decisively in the third quarter as the Lancers opened the second half on a 10–0 run, forcing the Lions to call an early timeout. Windsor continued to apply pressure throughout the frame, outscoring York by 15 points in the third to break the game open. Windsor maintained steady control throughout the fourth quarter, stifling any comeback attempts and never looking back en route to a 71–56 victory.
LOOKING AHEAD:
York will now look to bounce back when they host the Guelph Gryphons at the Tait McKenzie Centre on Friday, the 13th, a matchup that also marks Senior Night.Â
