The best and brightest intramural athletes, teams and officials were on full display Friday night at the 60th annual York Intramural Sports Banquet from Paradise Banquet Hall in Vaughan.
The biggest individual awards were won by pickleball player Chantal Hanna and pickleball and tennis player Braeden MacLean, who earned the Athlete of the Year Awards. The two were also part of the semi-competitive open doubles pickleball team that earned the title in that division.
Meanwhile, Jacob Lopata and Zaina Ahmed were named Participants of the Year. Lopata was also a member of the semi-competitive open doubles championship team. Conversely, Ahmed wins the award after being a nominee in 2024-25 while also being in the running for the 2024-25 women's athlete of the year award.
Stong College and Norman Bethune College earned the two biggest collective awards, the Torch Runner Up and the Torch Champion Awards, respectively. Bethune wins the award for the second year in a row, the third time in four years and 11th time since the inception of York Intramurals in 1966-67.
