GAME DAY EVENTS OPERATIONS ASSISTANT
The Game Day Operations Assistant will provide logistical and operational support for varsity games and events.
Primary responsibilities:
Tasks may include all or some of the following:
- Physical set-up and take-down of promotional areas, recreational and audio-visual equipment.
- Provide customer or guest support at events. Assist with crowd control or ushering.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to support execution of planned promotions or presentations. Support the Lion Ambassador program and mascot appearances as required.
- Sell general admission game/event tickets on-site. Distribute promotional materials including flyers, posters and complimentary and VIP tickets/passes.
- Conduct regular inventory of equipment and materials.
- Execute security and emergency procedures as needed.
Qualifications: High energy, enthusiastic and outgoing individual. Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills. Customer service or events experience is an asset. Experience selling tickets and handling money is an asset.
Requirements: Must be enrolled as a York University student. Have a general knowledge of Athletics & Recreation at York and general knowledge and interest in sports. These positions work predominantly Friday-Sunday but may have some hours during the week and may require you to work early morning and late evening shifts, as well as outdoors during inclement weather. Ability to lift/move/carry equipment or material of varying weights.
Time frame & hours per week: September-April, 10-15 hours/week.

TIMER
Primary responsibilities:
- Operate timeclocks for one or more of the following: Hockey, Volleyball, and Basketball games
- Input correct information regarding scores, fouls, time, etc
- Adhere to York Athletics & Recreation, OUA, and U SPORTS regulations and policies
- Address problems that may arise in a mature, calm, and timely fashion
- Communicate with game officials before and during the games
Qualifications: Sport specific knowledge – either Hockey, Volleyball, or Basketball. Understanding of OUA and CIS rules and regulations. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Responsible and reliable, strong interpersonal skills. Experience working as a timer during high school/varsity sports, local sports, or amateur sports preferred, but not required. Ability to multi-task in a stressful environment. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Requirements: Non-York students are eligible for some of these positions. All Minor Officials must have a general knowledge of Athletics & Recreation at York and general knowledge and interest in sports. Knowledge of the OUA and USPORTS preferred. These positions work predominantly Friday-Sunday and may require you to work early morning and late evening shifts, as well as outdoors during inclement weather.
