The fourth-year netminder, who earned the starting job this season, made five saves in a scoreless draw against the McMaster Marauders on Sunday afternoon, including a game-saver in the 82nd minute when he came well out of his net to stop a breakaway attempt. He also made one save in a 3-0 win over the Brock Badgers on Saturday. Vance’s six saves rank him eighth in the OUA.
Nour Ghoneim started her third year with the Lions with a bang, scoring two goals in the first half of the season opener to lead the squad to a 4-0 victory over the Brock Badgers. She netted the first in the 29th minute, what stood as the game-winning goal, and added another in the 41st minute. Ghoneim, who led the Lions in scoring last year despite playing just nine games, recorded five shots on goal in the contest. She also had a gorgeous diving header attempt the following day against the McMaster Marauders. Despite not scoring on that shot, the Lions went on to win 2-0.
