2022-23 Mark Cross Heart of a Lion AwardNamed in honour of Lions alumnus Mark Cross, who passed away in the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash in 2018, this award is presented to the player who best embodies Mark's spirit by exhibiting elite levels of Character, Respect, Optimism, Sacrifice and Selflessness (CROSS).
 


 
 
Dave Chambers Most Outstanding Player Award

2022-23 Dave Chambers Most Outstanding Player AwardEvanish put together and outstanding final season with the Lions. He led the team in points with 21 and tied for the team lead in goals with 10. He put up five multi-point games, but never scored more than one goal in a single game this season. For his career, he put up 20 goals and 22 assists for 42 points in 68 games as a Lion.

2022-23 Bill Maguire Yoeman's Service AwardAwarded for showing an extraordinary level of dedication, commitment, service and loyalty to the program, Perchal was selected as this year’s the Bill Maguire Yeoman’s Service Award recipient in recognition of his continued assistance to the Men’s Hockey program over the years (going back to the late 80s). He makes himself available to the players for academic assistance and guidance throughout their careers as student-athletes. Walter also meets with the team on occasion to discuss such important topics as leadership, commitment and team unity.    
 
 
Graham Wise Lasting Legacy Award

2022-23 Graham Wise Lasting Legacy AwardPouliot is the personification of perseverance, having been cut from multiple rep teams as a kid before earning a roster spot with the QMJHL's Shawinagan Cataractes. He was released from there the following year, and went to play with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. After spending a season there, he ended up in Junior 'A' with the Grand Prairie Storm of the AJHL. Out of junior, York was one of the only schools willing to take a chance on the big defenceman, and it clearly paid off. He led the team as captain in his final year, and 10 goals and 28 points over his time as a Lion. He is now playing professional hockey in the ECHL.

2022-23 Ian MacDonald Academic Excellence AwardMcVey wins the Ian Macdonald Academic Excellence Award for the second straight year. He has been an academic all-Canadian for the last three years while studying in the Schulich School of Business.

2022-23 Guy Burry That's A Lion AwardThe That's a Lion Award goes to three players this year, all of them integral parts to the team's success and late-season playoff push. All three are graduating seniors who exhibited excellent leadership throughout their time at York, especially in welcoming in the new recruits who will take the program forward. They have been excellent ambassadors of Lions hockey over their tenures at York.

2022-23 Bill Purcell Community Leadership AwardDouglas was one of the seven graduating Lions this season. He was one of the team's assistant captains in his final season, and has been involved in a wide variety of initiatives over his four years at York.
