Men's hockey players Connor Senken and Brock McLeod are co-winners of the 2024-25 Mark Cross Heart of a Lion Award“I am not sure any two Lions players have had more difficult careers at York than Connor and Brock, and it is a bit of a frightening thought to think about where this program might be if not for their incredible leadership over the past few years. From dealing with the fallout of the COVID pandemic, to helping steer our team through a change in Division when we were one of the youngest rosters in U SPORTS, Connor and Brock have approached every potential challenge in the manner with which Mark Cross would have. They have been terrific examples to all of us on how to Embody the CROSS Spirit, and I have no doubt that they will continue to do so as they move on to their professional careers and beyond.” -Russ Herrington, Head Coach

2024-25 Season In Review
7-16-5, 26 PTS, 8th in OUA East

Team Photo"As a group, this past season saw a lot of maturity and growth. Early in the year, we came up short in several close games, but our commitment to our team philosophy gradually shifted the momentum in our favour. Towards the end, we started beating some really tough teams and really showed what we’re capable of. One of the areas that is extremely promising to me is the resilience and dedication of our team and staff. I'm really excited to see what the team can accomplish going forward. I'm confident that they are going to be a force in the OUA East next year, and years to come." -Connor Senken, Defence

"I think it started with the mindset guys brought to camp. It obviously took some time for us to eventually see results in the win column, but from day one, our standards were set, and everyone bought in. We were focused more on the process than on the results, which helped us stay motivated and avoid getting discouraged. We found success against strong teams in the second half of the season, which is a major step in our development and a testament to our discipline towards the process of becoming a playoff team. Above all, I’m most proud of how connected our group is. The bond that’s been created over the years continues to be the foundation for why it’s an incredible program to a part of. Connor and I are excited to follow along next year and are proud to be a part of that growth." -Brock McLeod, Forward
