Simone Saxby joined the Lions coaching staff in 2015, returning to the program where she played for the Lions for five seasons (2008-12) while completing her undergraduate degree.
She grew up playing, coaching and referring provincial and recreational soccer, but switched to field hockey when she came to York and has been involved in the sport ever since. In addition to playing, she has also worked with teams for the 2013 Men’s Pan Am Field Hockey Cup and the 2015 Pan Am Games.
Saxby is also a certified field hockey umpire in Ontario, is part of the coaching staff of the Dolphins Field Hockey Club in Scarborough, Ont., and provides one-on-one field training for athletes.
