Brent Weir joined the Lions coaching staff in 2013 and will work with the offensive linemen. He brings with him to York several years of experience coaching in the CIS, is also currently the offensive line coach at Huron Heights Secondary School, the defending Metro Bowl champions.

Weir is a former CIS player with an impressive resume at Acadia University in Wolfville, N.S. He starred for the Axemen in the late 1990s, earning three AUS all-star honours and a spot on the CIS all-Canadian team in 1998. He then began his coaching career with the Axemen as the offensive line coach, earning the AUS silver medal in 2001.

He is also a full-time fire fighter with Toronto Fire Services, has since worked as the offensive line coach at a number of high schools in the Greater Toronto Area, most notably Huron Heights Secondary School in Newmarket.Â
