Harry Laflamme joined the Lions coaching staff in July 2010. His arrival at York united him with head coach Warren Craney, who he previously worked with at Concordia as an assistant defensive coordinator. Laflamme also worked with Craney for three years in the late ‘90s at Vanier College.
Â
Laflamme was a member of the coaching staff for the West team at the 2011 East West Bowl, serving as the defensive coordinator, and this past summer he also assisted with the Canadian Football League (CFL)’s Toronto Argonauts at their last two pre-season training camps.
Â
Laflamme has more than 15 years of coaching experience and generates an exciting brand of football with his innovative and aggressive defensive style. Prior to coming to York he spent eight years with the University of Montreal Carabins, whose coaching staff he joined in 2002 for the team’s inaugural season. He was an integral part of Montreal’s quick success; in just three seasons the Carabins went from an 0-8 record to a perfect regular season. Over the years he has developed some of the most feared pass rushers in the CIS and had several players named to all-Canadian teams, including Martin Gagne, the 2005 Peter Gorman Trophy winner as CIS rookie of the year.
Â
His coaching career began with the St-Leonard Cougars of the CJFL, where for two years he was an offensive line coach. He moved on to Vanier College in the same capacity and developed numerous student-athletes who went on to pursue careers in the NCAA, CIS and CFL.
