Kamau Peterson took over as the offensive coordinator in 2017 after serving as the associate offensive coordinator and receivers coach for the Lions since 2014. Before that was a guest coach in 2012 and 2013, and he is also the team’s strength and conditioning coach.

In addition to his role with the Lions, Peterson was part of the Team Canada coaching staff for three years as the receivers coach for the junior national team, winning the gold medal at the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) U19 world championships in 2012 and a silver in 2014.

Prior to becoming a coach, Peterson had a lengthy playing career of his own. A sixth overall pick of the Calgary Stampeders in the 2001 Canadian Football League (CFL) Draft, he played receiver for four teams over nine seasons in the league. He twice recorded 1,000+ receiving yards in his career and in 2008 was named a CFL West all-star and earned the most outstanding Canadian award while with the Edmonton Eskimos. He won the 89th Grey Cup in 2001 as a rookie with the Stampeders, and also played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Before beginning his professional playing career, Peterson was a multi-sport athlete in the NCAA with the University of New Hampshire Wildcats.
