A decorated sports professional, Mike MacPherson was added to the men’s hockey coaching staff for the 2021-22 season.
He has a wide range of experience in professional and junior hockey, most recently serving as OHL western conference scout for the Peterborough Petes. He also served as a pro scout for the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks for five seasons, ending in 2020. Prior to that, MacPherson served as director of scouting for multiple ECHL teams – including the Phoenix Roadrunners, Reading Royals, Roanoke Express and the Jackson Bandits.
He has also given back to his community as a minor hockey coach, plying his trade with the Halton Hurrcanes U18 AAA for two seasons from 2013 to 2015 and the Guelph Storm U16 AAA in 2012-13.
MacPherson’s playing career took him to Maritime Junior ‘A’ League, and to Cape Breton University of the AUS.
Away from the game, Mike has worked in education for the last 30 years, currently serving as a K-12 virtual principal and re-engagement lead in Guelph, Ont. He has a master’s degree in physical education from the University of New Brunswick, and a bachelor of science in physical education from St. Francis Xavier University.
