Matt Stinson went from player to coach with the Lions after the 2015 season. He spent three years as a midfielder with the program, earning OUA West second-team all-star honours and U SPORTS tournament all-star recognition in 2014 and helping the Lions win three OUA championships and two national titles.

Stinson brings plenty of playing experience at a number of different levels to the coaching staff. Before coming to York, he spent parts of two seasons with Toronto FC, appearing in 17 games, and represented Canada on the senior men’s national team. He also spent one season at Winthrop University, where he was voted team MVP as a freshman and was a first-team all-conference award recipient.
