Michael Sherbut joined the coaching ranks with the Lions in 2019 after two years as a player with the team. He came to the Lions before the 2017-18 season and provided tremendous leadership on the court while serving as a back-up setter and serve specialist. Prior to coming to York, he spent one season with the Queen’s Gaels.

Sherbut is a former member of the Alberta provincial beach volleyball team and helped his club team win the Alberta provincial title at the U14 level. He also spent two seasons with the Calgary Coults, serving as team captain, earning MVP honours and winning provincial medals at U15 and U16 levels.
