John Stevenson joined the Lions as the distance specialist in 2012. He brings with him extensive experience as a distance coach and was most recently with the London Western Track and Field Club, where he’s been the president since 2008 and coaching since 2006.
He also has a wealth of experience with several provincial and national teams. This past March he served as a Canadian team coach for the 2012 North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) Cross Country Championships in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, and last year he was the endurance coordinator for the Athletics Ontario Canada Summer Games development program. He has previously been the middle distance coach for the Athletics Ontario vs. Quebec dual meet and at the 2010 Ontario Summer Games.
A Level 3 middle distance coach working on completing his Level 4/5 at the National Coaching Institute of Toronto, Stevenson was a CIS competitor at the University of British Columbia, where he was a three-time Canada West champion in the 4x800m relay.
