Lexie Sananes is the first Lions full-time lead assistant coach in program history after accepting the role in 2019. She served as a part-time assistant coach for the team since 2012 after a career-ending injury cut short her playing time.

In addition to her assistant coaching role with the Lions, Sananes owns a wealth of experience that includes head coaching roles with the Team Ontario U17 team and the Redmond Basketball Academy. She has previously served as an assistant coach with Team Ontario’s U17 and U15 programs, winning gold medals at the national championships in 2015 and 2017, and with Bill Crothers Secondary School. Sananes is also a well-educated coach, having earned NCCP certifications in Learn to Train, Train to Train and Train to Compete.

Before coming to York, Sananes played for the Advantage Titans club program and she coached with the club for seven years.
