Teresa Hutchinson

Teresa Hutchinson joined the Lions coaching staff in 2017 and brings plenty of experience at a variety of levels in hockey.

Her coaching career has spanned many different levels and has led to various accomplishments, most recently qualifying for the 2019-20 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms national championship along with the women's hockey team. On an individual level, Teresa earned Hockey Canada's BFL Female Coach of the Year award in 2019-20.
 
She has been coaching since 1992 and has won several provincial medals with many different teams. Most recently, she was the head coach of the U18 Team Ontario Blue at the 2016 U18 national championships and the assistant coach with the same team the previous year. She has also been involved with OWHA high performance camps since 2014, and was the assistant coach with Team Ontario at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer Alta.
 
As a player, Hutchinson helped Team Canada win the gold medal at the 1990 world championships and was a member of the Ontario team that won the silver medal at the world hockey tournament in 1987. She went on to play for the Scarborough Sting in the Central Ontario Women’s Hockey League, which was the predecessor of the NWHL and CWHL.
 
Away from the rink, Hutchinson has been a police officer for over 30 years and is currently a superintendent with the Durham Regional Police Service, leading the service’s Continuous Improvement Program.
