Shannon Wood joined the Lions coaching staff in 2016 after a stellar five-year playing career with the program. She started every regular season and playoff game over her five seasons with the Lions and became one of the best defenders in the country. Throughout her career she earned four OUA all-star honours, including three on the first team, and was a CIS second-team all-Canadian in her final season.
 
Wood also excelled in the classroom, earning multiple CIS academic all-Canadian honours, and served as a team captain.
