Angela Frawley played with the Lions in the 2008-09 season and helped lead the team to the OUA championship, the program's first title in 12 years. She was also named an OUA all-star for the first time that season and received the R.W. Pugh Fair Play Award at the CIS championships.

Frawley, a former CIS academic all-Canadian, spent the first four seasons of her career at Guelph, winning OUA silver and bronze medals with the Gryphons. After a three-year hiatus from interuniversity sport, Frawley enrolled at York for a second degree in English and spent a year coaching the women's volleyball team until she was eligible to play her final season. She returns to the York coaching ranks as an assistant coach this season.
