Steven Chuang is the Executive Director of York University Athletics & Recreation and the Varsity Athletic Director for the York Lions. In this role, he provides strategic leadership for campus recreation, varsity athletics, business development, and operational excellence. As part of the Division of Students, Steven is dedicated to fostering an equity-informed, student-centered environment that supports meaningful participation and community well-being. He also contributes to institutional priorities as a member of the Revenue Generation and Asset Optimization Workgroup and the Out of Province Recruitment Committee.
Beyond York University, Steven serves on the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) CEO Advisory Committee and the OUA Board Governance Committee. He previously served as Board President and Interim CEO of YouthLink, one of East Toronto's leading children and youth mental health agencies. Prior to that, he was President & CEO of YMCA of Greater Niagara, where he oversaw major fitness hubs, child care centres, and community outreach programs across 100 locations in 12 municipalities. Earlier in his career, Steven was Steven was Associate Dean of Humber College Lakeshore Campus and Director of Pathways to Education and EarlyON Centres in the community healthcare sector. He was the Founder of Jobs4U, one of the largest youth employment and skills development programs in Regent Park, Toronto Canada.
