Box Score The York University Lions women's hockey team gained its first win of the season with a 4-1 victory over the Brock Badgers on Sunday (Oct. 12) in St. Catharines, Ont.

The Lions did not waste any time controlling the game with an early goal in 4:02.

Kristen Barbara of Mount Hope, Ont.

Rookie defender
Caitlin Lee (Madoc, Ont.) scored 5:41 into the first period, the first goal of her career that stood up as the game winner. Lee continued her impressive game with an assist on Stathopulos's second of the game for the team's third goal in 13:55.

The second period was a slow one for the Lions. The Badgers managed to grab a goal through forward Laura Neu 3:37 through. Defender Isabella Triolo made the assist.

Rianna Langford (Collingwood, Ont.) sealed the win with six minutes left on the third period. The play was assisted by
Amy Locke (Toronto) and Barbara.

Lions goaltender
Megan Lee (Orillia, Ont.) had an amazing game, saving 40 shots and conceding just one. Her counterpart, Stephanie Loukes, made 22 saves in the loss.

With this win, the Lions record is at 1-1-0 and they hold two points, tying with five other teams. The Lions will be facing the Queen's Gaels at Kingston, Ont., on Friday (Oct. 17) beginning at 12pm.
