DURIE RANKED NO. 8 IN SPORTSNET'S TOP 50 PLAYERS LIST

Former York University Lions football player Andre Durie came in at No. 8 on Sportsnet's list of the Top 50 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) players in the Vanier Cup era over the last 50 years.

Durie's CIS career was cut short by a serious knee injury, which cost him the end of his junior season and his entire senior year, but in the two-plus years he did play he clearly made his mark on the league. He was a two-time OUA all-star (2003-04) and a CIS all-Canadian in 2004. He set an OUA record in 2003 with 349 rushing yards in a single game, and in 2004 became just the third player in CIS history to record six rushing touchdowns in one contest.

He also holds single-season York records for rushing yards (1,367), scoring (96 points) and rushing touchdowns (15) and has the York career rushing touchdown record, at 23.

He finished his career with an astonishing average of 9.1 yards per carry.

Durie has gone on to a tremendous career with the Toronto Argonauts as a receiver. He has been with the team for eight seasons, winning the Grey Cup in 2012, the Jake Gaudaur Veterans' Trophy in 2011 and multiple individual weekly awards.
