The York University Lions men's volleyball team won in four sets against cross-town rivals the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday (Jan. 30) at the Goldring Centre in Toronto.

The squad was once again led by the dynamic play of outside hitters
Ray Szeto (Sutton, Ont.) and
Josh Henderson (Scarborough, Ont.), who combined for 41 of the team's 62 points scored.

The visitors grabbed the first set win at 25-18. The Blues responded with a win in the second set at 25-17. However, the Lions managed to win the next two sets with a score of 25-22 and 25-23, respectively.

The Lions improved to a record of 10-7 and now sit fifth in the OUA standings, while the Blues are at the bottom of the standings at 4-14 and have already been eliminated from the playoff race.

Szeto and Henderson made 17 kills each. Szeto also had three blocks and one service ace, while Henderson also added three blocks.

Nikola Sandic (Etobicoke, Ont.) made 42 assists and added seven digs.

The Blues' Michael Denton set up 41 plays for the team. Kyle Fick led all Blues with 16 points on 10 kills, four blocks and two service aces, and Jake Dysselhof had 15 points on 13 kills, one block and one service ace.

The Lions will be facing the No. 10 nationally-ranked Ryerson Rams at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto on Saturday (Jan. 31) beginning at 8pm in their next contest.
