The York University Lions women's hockey team was handed a 3-0 defeat by the Brock Badgers at the Seymour-Hannah Centre in St. Catharines, Ont., on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 31).
 
The Badgers grabbed an early 1-0 lead early in the first period at 2:14 with a goal from Cara Sayles. However, the Lions were quick to bounce back with relentless pressure, launching 13 shots on Badgers goaltender Stephanie Loukes to try and level the score, but to no avail.
 
The Lions continued their momentum into the second period, but still couldn't slip the puck past the gloves of Loukes, and the Badgers carried their 1-0 lead into the final frame.
 
The third period saw the Lions with more opportunities to score as the Lions finished the game with 27 shots as opposed to Brock's 18. Lions goaltender Eva Hall (Main-A-Dieu, N.S.) also did well to make 15 saves in total, but two goals from Brock's Bronwyn O'Neil at 1:37 and 15:41 sealed the win for the Badgers.
 
The Lions will be off next weekend and will return to action on Friday, Nov. 13 when they take on the Windsor Lancers. The game will start at 7:30pm in Windsor, Ont.
