In the second set the Lions continued to fight for a win, but the Gee-Gees were able to take the set in another close 25-22 win. The Lions were able to catch up from a six-point deficit midway through the action with kills from several different York players, but it was Gee-Gees Alix Durivage who was able to finalize the set with a game point kill.

The Lions bounced back and were able to take the third set with a 25-17 victory. The team maintained a steady lead throughout the set and scored five consecutive points towards the end of play, including a crucial kill from Celeste Witzell (Kitchener, Ont.) and a service ace from Kristen Dillon (Surrey, B.C.), that gave the Lions the win.
