York University Lions men's soccer forward
Cristian Cavallini scored a hat trick to lead his team to a big 6-1 victory over the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines, Ont., on Thursday night (Oct. 6).

The Lions exploded offensively, scoring six goals from four different players. It all started early in the first half when Cavallini (Woodbridge, Ont.) found his way to the back of the net for the first of his three goals just 15 minutes into the contest.

The second took place in the 24
th minute when
Jonathon Lao (Unionville, Ont.) found him for the assist.

After Cavallini's first two goals
Milan Beader (Oakville, Ont.) felt that it was time to join the party with his goal in the 34
th minute and the Lions led 3-0 going into the break.

It did not take long for York to light up the scoreboard again after half as Cavallini found
Eddie Lay (Courtice, Ont.) for a strike that the goalkeeper could not contain.

Cavallini attained his hat trick in the 55
th minute to complete an unbelievable day on the pitch. The final goal game in the 77
th minute when Lay found
Matt Arnone (Woodbridge, Ont.) to round out the scoring.

The Badgers got their lone goal in the 71
st minute off the foot of Nathan Briglio.

Thursday's win is York's 10
th of the season as they still hold the top spot in the OUA West standings. The Lions now have a 10-0-2 record with 32 points on the season while Brock drops to 2-6-4 with 10 points.

The Lions will finally return home next week for a game against the second-place Guelph Gryphons on Wednesday evening (Oct. 12) beginning at 8:15pm.
