The York University Lions men's volleyball team earned its first victory of the season on Saturday night (Nov. 12) with a straight-sets victory over the Ryerson Rams at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

In the first set, it took until the technical timeout for either team to pull ahead by more than two points, and the Lions led 16-13. They continued to roll from there, eventually taking the first set 25-19.
Â
In the second set it was the Rams that led early and at the technical timeout, by a score of 16-15. They scored the next two points to lead 18-15 before the Lions came storming back with a rally of their own to lead 19-18, and they held on down the stretch to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-21 set win.
Â
The first half of the third set was a back-and-forth affair, but at the midway point the Lions went on another run to build a 20-15 advantage and ultimately win 25-18.
