IEZADY SCORES TWICE TO LEAD LIONS OVER MARAUDERS

York University Lions men's soccer player Dena Iezady scored two goals to lead his team to a 2-0 victory over the McMaster Marauders on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 17) at Alumni Field.

The No. 1 nationally-ranked Lions continued their dominance over their fiercest rivals to improve to 6-0-0, representing the first team in the OUA West to reach that mark. The usually strong Marauders are off to a tough start and are currently 2-3-2.

Iezady (Richmond Hill, Ont.), a fifth-year midfielder, moved into first place on the season's OUA scoring list with five goals, with four of them coming in two games against the Marauders.

After the two teams played to a scoreless draw in the first half of play, he scored both of his tallies in an eight-minute span in the second for an insurmountable lead. The first came in the 64th minute and the second one was scored in the 72nd minute and both of them were unassisted.

Andrew D'Souza (Mississauga, Ont.) got the start in net and made two saves for the clean sheet. McMasterk's goalkeeper, Kieran Doyle-Davis, also made two saves and allowed the two goals.

The Lions will now play six straight road games before their next contest at home. Up first is a match-up against the No. 9 Guelph Gryphons on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 18) at 3:15pm., where the Lions will look to remain undefeated. The Gryphons also do not have a loss this season at 3-0-2.
