NO. 3 RAMS STAY UNDEFEATED WITH VICTORY OVER LIONS

The York University Lions men's basketball team returned to the court on Saturday evening when the undefeated and No. 3 nationally-ranked Ryerson Rams travelled to the Tait McKenzie Centre. The 10-0 squad would do their best to knock down a surging Lions team and won by a score of 69-52.

In the first quarter, second-year guard Jayden Frederick (Scarborough, Ont.) worked fast to get comfortable behind the arc as he hit two three point shots in the opening three minutes of the game. The baskets added six points to the Lions' 10-point quarter.

Julio Vazquez (Toronto) joined in on the action in the second quarter and flexed his inner Ray Allen, hitting three baskets from behind the arc. Vazquez's nine points helped the Lions find their way back into the game, as York outscored Ryerson 19-7 in the quarter and led 29-28 at the halftime break.

Ryerson came out of the locker room after halftime seemingly unphased as the Rams hit five three-pointers in the third to outscore the Lions 27-10. This offensive surge would have a great affect on the game, almost erasing all of the ground that the Lions gained in the second quarter.

In the fourth and final quarter the Rams continued to pressure the Lions offence and capitalize off of their own defensive stops. Frederick scored four points to add to his team high 10 points in the game, and he also recorded six rebounds.

The Rams would continue to roll to remain in the lead throughout the second half while the Lions tried to claw back but were unable to before time ran out.

Ryerson's Adika Peter-McNeilly led all players with 29 points and also had six rebounds.

The Lions' next game will take place on Friday when they travel to Hamilton, Ont., to face off against the No. 10 nationally-ranked McMaster Marauders.
