The York University Lions women's hockey team took on the visiting Guelph Gryphons Saturday afternoon. The Lions have faced a tough start to their season, suffering tough losses to both Ryerson and Toronto. The final score from Saturday's match was 4-1 for the Gryphons.

The Lions scored the first goal of the game and what would be their only goal of the contest at the end of the first period. Second-year forward
Avery Reeves netted it, and she was assisted by
Christina Chin and
Steffei Samuel. This was Reeves' second goal as a Lion.

The Gryphons took over the scoring for the remainder of the game. Laura Crowdis scored unassisted in the second period. Goals in the third period were made by Claire Merrick – assisted by Kelly Gribbons and Chantal Gudbranson – and Kaitlin Lowy, unassisted. The Gryphons' final goal came in the last minute of play from Ashley Lawerence, who was assisted by Katherine Bailey.

The Lions will continue searching for their first win of the season when they pay a visit to the UOIT Ridgebacks next Saturday at 3:30pm. After heading to Kingston, Ont. the next day, the Lions will return home to Canlan Ice Sports on Saturday, Nov. 4 to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks. Puck drop is at 2pm.
