The York University Lions men's basketball team squared off with the Western Mustangs on home court Friday. It was closely fought battle, but ultimately the Mustangs came out on top with a 70-63 win.

The Lions had a wide lead early on, at 20-13 over the Mustangs at the end of the first quarter. The Lions were able to maintain this lead well into the second quarter before the Mustangs caught up with less than two minutes left on the clock. The second quarter wrapped up with the Lions narrowly leading 34-33.

A tightly fought battle ensued after halftime. At the five-minute mark, the Mustangs were up 44-39. The Lions were able to close this gap to a two-point difference at the end of the quarter, at 53-51. Both teams continued to play hard, and the Mustangs reached the end of the fourth quarter seven points ahead of the Lions.

Brandon Ramirez led the scoring for the Lions with 17 points.
Ricky Hudson led the team in rebounds with seven. On the Mustangs' side, high scorers included Eriq Jenkins and Omar Shiddo with 17 and 16 points, respectively.

The Lions now have a 2-6 record for the regular season, and the Mustangs improve to 4-4. The Lions will take on the Windsor Lancers on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 8pm at the Tait McKenzie Centre.
