The York University Lions men's basketball team dropped its first decision of the regular season by a score of 101-72 to the No. 2 nationally-ranked Brock Badgers on Friday night at the Tait McKenzie Centre.

The Badgers raced out to an early 26-15 victory over the Lions in the first quarter of play and never looked back. They ran their advantage to 53-35 at the half and, despite getting outscored 25-19 in the third quarter still held the overall lead in the game.

The fourth quarter saw the Badgers go right back to their strong shooting ways and the game ended with the lopsided score in favour of the visitors.

Rookie
Prince Kamunga led all Lions with 14 points and he also added two rebounds and a pair of steals. He was one of four Lions to reach double digits in the contest, with
Josiah Riley picking up 12 points,
Brandon Ramirez adding 11 and
Nada Adu-Poku chipping in with 10 from the bench after going 4-for-4 from the floor.

Brock spread their offence around with three different players reaching 15 points or more.
Johneil Simpson led the way with 25 on the night, while Cassidy Ryan added 24.

Daniel Cayer led all players with 11 rebounds and chipped in with eight points.

The Badgers continue their undefeated season with a perfect 3-0 start to the year, while the Lions fell to 1-1 with the loss.

The Lions will be back in action again on Saturday night when they face another coach with a new head coach this season in the McMaster Marauders and Patrick Tatham. Tip-off is set for 8pm and the game can be seen live online on OUA.tv.
