LIONS ERASAE TWO-SET DEFICIT IN BIG WIN OVER PALADINS

The York University Lions men's volleyball team spent Saturday in Kingston facing off against the RMC Paladins. After falling behind by two sets, the Lions came all the way back and prevailed to win the match 3-2.
 
The win is the team's second of the season in as many matches.
 
The first three sets were tough battles, with close scores of 23-25 for the Paladins in both the first and second set and 28-26 for the Lions in the third set. The Lions went into their fourth set with more aggression and came out with a 25-14 victory. The fifth and final set saw the Lions once again defeat the Paladins, this time 15-7, and allowed the Lions to claim the match.
 
Tyler Covach led the Lions with 20 points on 17 kills and three services aces.
 
He was followed by Andrew Shotbolt with 16 points (13 kills, three service aces) and Toure Nwakwesi also with 16 points (13 kills, three solo blocks).
 
Leading the team in digs was Jules Muhawe with 15, followed by Shotbolt with 10. Setter Legan Mend had 47 assists.
 
The Lions will stay in Kingston, Ont., and look to extend their winning streak when they play the Queen's Gaels on Sunday, Nov. 5. Match time is 3pm. They will be back home in the Tait McKenzie Centre Friday, Nov. 10 to take on the Ryerson Rams in their first game at home.
