The York University men's soccer team beat the Guelph Gryphons 1-0 on Friday, Oct.12 in Guelph, Ont.

The two top-seeded teams in the OUA West division battled it out throughout the game and proved why they are the top two teams. In the first half of the game, neither York nor Guelph were able to secure a goal against the other and York was able to fire one shot against Guelph and Guelph was able to fire two against York, however, they were unable to find the back of either net.

In the second half of the game, the Gryphons were strong offensively compared to the Lions as they shot four more attempts against York, with York goalkeeper
Mike Argyrides making two key saves.

Jorgo Nika scored the only goal of the game at the 57th minute and gave York the win against one of their toughest competitors in the OUA West division.

The Lions will next play the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday Oct.14 for their last home game of the regular season at Alumni Field. Kick-off is at 3:15pm.
