The York University field hockey team opened up the action in Waterloo, Ont. this morning and crushed the McMaster Marauders 16-0 in their first playoff game.

The Lions dominated the match scoring nine goals in the first half and seven in the second. First year rookie,
Amber Sandhu, who scored four goals in the regular season, had a spectacular match scoring five goals for the Lions. She scored three in the first half at the 30

th minute, followed by two in the second half at the 50
th and 61
st minute.

Jaslan Stirling was able to earn herself a hat trick against the Marauders, scoring goals in the 10
th, 16
th and 31
st minute.

Sara Vollmerhausen were each able to score a goal to add to the Lions' massive lead.
Frankie St. Louis scored two goals in the 15

th minute. In net, first year rookie
Sareena Clay kept the Marauders scoreless. Â

With the win, the Lions will continue their quest for their second consecutive OUA banner and will play at 9am tomorrow against the winner of the Waterloo Warriors and Queen's Gaels match, who play today at 1pm.
