The York University women's soccer team dominated Algoma University in their second game against the Thunderbirds on the weekend. The game finished with a score of 4-1 and gave the Lions their seventh win of the regular season.

Much like their previous game against Algoma, the Lions took control of most of the offensive plays of the game and fired a total of 30 shots at the Thunderbirds net throughout the entire game against the Thunderbirds' two shots, one of which resulted in a goal for Algoma at the 90th minute of the game.

Farkhunda Muhtaj and
Christina Morelli had the most shots against Algoma with five each, some of which resulted in goals for York.

Johnson was the top scorer of the game with two successful shots-on-goal. Her first goal, which was also the first goal of the game, was recorded at the 37th minute, assisted by Muhtaj. Johnson's second goal came six minutes after the second half, at the 51st minute assisted by midfielder
Kalifornia Mitchell.

The Lions continued their momentum and put up more goals onto the scoreboard throughout the remainder of the half. Fifth-year vet
Christina Morelli scored the third goal of the game, which was unassisted, and forward Stephanie Lamana, who also had two shots on goal in the game, found the back of the net at the 59th minute of the game, making York's lead 4-0.

The Thunderbirds, however, were able to score at the 90th minute of the game, making the final score a 4-1 win for the Lions.

The Lions will be playing their last home game of the regular season on Sunday, Oct.14 at Alumni field. Kick-off is at 1pm.
